Budde took the puck in from the right side and slammed it past the St. Thomas goaltender at the 15:27 mark of the second period. Her first score of the season was assisted by sophomore forwards Amanda Boisjolie and Sydney Simone.

After a scoreless opening period, the Tommies struck first at the 8:41 mark in the second. The visitors regained the lead with a power play goal at 18:48.

The Foresters had a significant edge in shots on goal in the contest, out-shooting St. Thomas 7-3 in the first period, 15-9 in the second, and 12-3 over the last 20 minutes.

St. Thomas, the 10th-ranked team in the nation, completed the weekend sweep of one-goal games to open the season.

Lake Forest, which was ranked eighth in the nation going into the series, will open Northern Collegiate Hockey Asociation play at Concordia University Wisconsin next weekend. The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and again at 3:00 the following afternoon.
