Sophomore forward Amy Budde scored a pair of goals late in the Lake Forest College women's hockey team's 3-1 victory at Marian University on Saturday.

Budde's first score of the evening broke a 1-1 tie with 4:40 remaining in the third period. Senior forward Allie Girard and freshman forward Sydney Simone assisted on what proved to be the game-winning the goal. Budde also tacked on an unassisted empty net score, her team-high 16th goal of the year, with 1:54 on the clock.

The game was scoreless until Forester junior forward Amanda Brunges gave the visitors the lead at the 13:32 mark of the second period. Her seventh score this season was assisted by freshmen defensemen Amanda Boisjolie and Julia Unterseher

The Sabres tied the score just 97 seconds into the third period. It was their only goal against Lake Forest freshman goaltender Jacque Rogers, who made 20 saves in the contest and improved to 11-1-0 with a 1.08 goals against average and .942 save percentage on the year.

The Foresters out-shot the home team 33-21 in the game.

Lake Forest, the fifth-ranked team in the nation, is now 19-2-1 overall this season and 13-1-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Marian fell to 9-12-1 overall and 6-9-0 in the league. The same two teams will face off again in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
