Junior Kayla Griffith assisted on one goal and scored the game-winner as the Lake Forest College women's hockey team began Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play with a 4-3 victory at College of St. Scholastica on Saturday.

The Foresters, who also defeated the Saints 4-3 in a non-conference game Friday night, came from behind twice in the contest. The home team started the scoring less than two minutes into the contest but junior defenseman Caroline Campbell tied the game on a power play goal at the 14:06 mark of the opening period. Senior forward Allie Girard and freshman defenseman Amanda Boisjolie set up the first goal of the season for Campbell.

The Saints also started the second period strong, regaining the lead on a power play goal just 39 seconds in. Lake Forest came back again and tied the score at the 5:08 mark on freshman forward Sydney Simone's first career score. She was assisted by sophomore forward Samantha Wais. Griffith and junior forward Amanda Brunges assisted freshman defenseman Julia Unterseher on the visitors second power play score of the afternoon at 13:01. Unterseher leads the team with three goals on the year. Griffith then lit the lamp with 3:24 remaining in the period with an assist credited to freshman forward Maddie Davis.

St. Scholastica pulled its goaltender with two-and-a-half minutes to play in the game and scored the only goal of the third period with just 49 seconds on the clock. The Saints' goalie exited again with 17 seconds left but were unable to tie the score.

Lake Forest had a 26-25 advantage in shots on goal in the contest.
