D3hockey.com Lists Five Foresters on All-West Region Teams

D3hockey.com released the 2015-16 women's all-region teams on Tuesday and five Foresters made the list.

Seniors Allie Carter, Alex Stensland, and Michelle Greeneway were First Team All-West Region selections. Carter, a goaltender, finished second in the nation with a 1.15 goals against average, tied-for-seventh with six shutouts, ninth with a .945 save percentage, and 10th with a .763 winnings percentage (14-4-1). Stensland tied for second in the country with three short-handed goals on the season and ranked sixth in points per game (19 in 27 contests) by a defenseman. Greeneway, a forward, led all NCAA Division III players with 33 goals and tied for the national lead with eight game-winning scores. She was also third in the country with 1.74 points per game.

Sophomores Kayla Griffith and Olivia Spellmire were named Second Team All-West Region. Griffith finished fourth in the country in points per game by a defenseman with 20 (6 goals, 14 assists) in 27 games. Spellmire, a forward, was sixth nationally with 1.00 assists per game (27 total) and eighth with 1.52 points per contest (41 total).

Carter, Griffith, and Greeneway had already been named First Team West All-Americans by the American Hockey Coaches Association on March 17 and Greeneway was also selected by the association as the NCAA Division III Player of the Year (Laura Hurd Award). Spellmire and Stensland were Second Team West-All-Americans. All five were also All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association selections earlier in March.

Lake Forest finished the season ranked eighth in the country by D3hockey.com after posting a 20-4-3 overall record and 15-2-1 mark in NCHA play.
