The American Hockey Coaches Association has selected Lake Forest's Michelle Greeneway as one of five finalists for the prestigious Laura Hurd Award, given to the ACHA College Division Player of the Year.

The finalists were revelead on Tuesday in advance of this weekend's NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship in Plattsburgh, New York. The winner of the Laura Hurd Award will be announced at Thursday's student-athlete banquet. Hurd, a four-time All-American and the 2005 ACHA Player of the Year, tragically died in a car accident shortly after graduating from Elmira College.

Greeneway, a senior forward, leads the nation with 33 goals, matching Hurd for the fifth-highest single-season total in NCAA Division III history. She is also fourth in the country with 47 points. The Foresters' all-time scoring leader finished her career ranked tied-for-fourth in NCAA Division III history with 103 goals and 20 game-winning scores and she is one of just three players in the NCAA record book with more goals than games played (101). Greeneway was named First Team West All-American by the ACHA as a sophomore and earned Second Team honors each of her other two seasons. This year's All-American Teams have yet to be announced.

In addition to her national awards, Greeneway is a four-time All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association honoree and was named NCHA Player of the Year in 2014 and 2016. She was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week three times this season and seven times in her career.

Lake Forest won a program record 20 games against just four losses and three ties in 2015-16. The team posted a pair of 11-game unbeaten streaks and was ranked ninth in the latest USCHO.com Poll.
