Foresters Sweep NCHA Weekly Awards

Lake Forest College women's hockey players Melissa Paluch and Allie Carter were named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday. They helped lead the Foresters to three victories last week.

Paluch, a senior forward, scored four goals and assisted on two other scores during the three games combined. She netted the team's second goal, a power play score, during a 7-0 triumph at Marian University Wednesday night in the Foresters' NCHA opener. Lake forest defeated visiting College of St. Scholastica 5-2 on Saturday and Paluch scored two of the goals and added a pair of assists, tying her for first place in program history with 51 assists in her career. Finally, in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Saints, she scored for the fourth time this week and fifth on the year.

Carter, a senior goaltender, was between the pipes for both of the Foresters' shutouts last week. She needed just 11 save to blank Marian on Wednesday and 13 to post her third shutout of the year agaonst St. Scholastica on Sunday. Carter has turned away all 36 shots on goal she has faced this season and is the first goalie in team history to record three consecutive shutouts.

NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations. Paluch also earned the award once as a sophomore and Carter once last season.
