Despite doubling the visitors' shots on goal, the Lake Forest College women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with St. Catherine University at home on Sunday. Forester sophomore forward Amanda Brunges scored to tie the game early in the third period.

It was the first goal of the season for Brunges, who now has four scores in her career.

Lake Forest had taken the early lead on senior forward Michelle Greeneway's second goal in as many games this year. The unassisted score at the 3:07 mark of the second period came less than two hours after she netted the winning goal for the Forester women's soccer team in a game that clinched the Midwest Conference championship.

St. Catherine pulled even at 7:10 in the second period and took the lead at 13:35.

The Foresters had a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period and a 17-10 edge in the second. The home team outshot the Wildcats 17-4 in the third period and 4-1 in the five-minute overtime.

Lake Forest freshman goaltender Abby Cooper made 20 saves in her collegiate debut.

The Foresters had defeated St. Catherine 5-0 in Saturday night's series and season opener.

Lake Forest will begin Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at Marian University Wednesday night at 7:00.
