Foresters Blank Marian University 2-0

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team posted a 2-0 victory at Marian University on Wednesday. Forester sophomore goaltender Casey Hartfiel made 20 saves in her second career shutout.

Hartfiel stopped six shots on goal in the opening period, eight in the second, and six more in the third. She improved to 6-1-0 with a 1.64 goals against average and .924 save percentage on the year.

The same trio of forwards accounted for both of the Foresters' goals. Junior Holly Lesperance netted the first at the 4:15 mark of the first period with seniors Morgan Pope and Marissa Weber assisting on the score. It was the fourth goal of the season for Lesperance, who now has three official game-winning scores in her career.

Lesperance and Pope assisted Weber on the other goal at 13:29 in the second period. It was Weber's fifth tally of 2014-15 and the 30th score of her career.

Pope and Lesperance are now tied for the team lead with a dozen assists on the season. Pope also moved into a tie for eighth place in program history with 39 assists in her career.

Lake Forest is now 9-5-2 overall and 8-3-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Sabres fell to 5-10-1 overall and 3-6-0 in the league.

The Foresters will be off this weekend before playing a pair of conference games on the road January 30-31. Lake Forest will travel to Finlandia University that Friday night for a 7:15 p.m. (EST) face-off and will play at the College of St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
