Foresters Post Second Straight 5-1 Victory over St. Norbert

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team finished off a two-game sweep of visiting St. Norbert College Saturday night, defeating the Green Knights 5-1 for the second day in a row. The Foresters scored four goals in the second period, including the official game-winner by senior forward Emily Wybo.

The only goal in the first period was scored by senior forward Morgan Pope at the 6:33 mark. Her fourth goal of the year was assisted by senior defenseman Torey Crown.

Pope and freshman defenseman Kayla Griffith assisted on Wybo's second score of the year at 3:53 in the second period. The next three Forester goals came on the power play and each was the second of the year for the player who scored it. Griffith and junior forward Holly Lesperance assisted junior forward Michelle Greeneway at 6:00, Wybo and senior defenseman Erin Shamley set up senior forward Laura Reckdenwald at 10:42, and junior forward Melissa Paluch was assisted by Griffith at 16:08.

The Green Knights finally got on the scoreboard on a power play goal of their own at 18:36 in the second period amd neither team scored again in the contest.

Lake Forest out-shot the visitors 12-9 in the first period, 14-9 in the second, and 19-5 in the third.

Forester junior goaltender Allie Carter recorded 22 saves for her second win in as many nights. She is now 2-1-0 on the year with a .921 save percentage.

The victory evens Lake Forest's overall and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association records at 2-2-0. St. Norbert is also 2-2-0 overall but 0-2-0 in the league.

The Foresters will play a home-and-home series with Concordia University Wisconsin next weekend. The teams will face off in Lake Forest at 4:00 Friday afternoon and in Mequon, Wisconsin, Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
