Michelle Greeneway Named AHCA All-American

The American Hockey Coaches Association released the 2013 CCM Division III Women's All-Americans on Thursday and Lake Forest College's Michelle Greeneway was the only freshman on the list.

Greeneway was listed on the West Second Team after leading the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with 23 goals on the season. She also assisted on a dozen scores and tied for fourth in the league with 35 points. Greeneway finished seventh in the nation overall and second among rookies with 1.40 points per game and ranked third in the country with 0.92 goals per contest.

After a statistically slow start to the season, Greeneway racked up 26 points on 17 goals and nine assists during Lake Forest's team record 12-game winning streak from December 8 through February 5. She scored four game-winning goals during that span and added another in a 2-1 triumph at (then) #5 UW-River Falls and her five game-winners on the year ranked tied-for-fifth in the nation.

The ACHA named a First and Second Team from both the East and West regions and each was made up of three forwards, two defensemen, and a goaltender. Greeneway was the only freshman among the 24 honorees. Eight of the 12 players on the West teams were from the NCHA.

Greeneway is the fifth player in program history to earn All-American honors. She joins a pair of 2007 selections. forward Courtney and goaltender Sally Bevis and 2010 honorees Kim Herring and Courtney Bean. DeHoey received the award from U.S. College Hockey Online and the other three from the ACHA.

The 2012-13 Foresters posted a 15-7-4 overall record and a mark of 12-4-4 in NCHA play, good for third place in the conference standings.
