St. Scholastica Wins First NCHA Quarterfinal Game 2-0

St. Scholastica broke a 0-0 tie at 16:51 of the third period and added an insurance goal at 19:28 to defeat host Lake Forest in the first game of the NCHA Quarterfinals Friday night at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. 

Lake Forest (15-6-4, 12-4-4 NCHA), the third seed, and St. Scholastica (13-9-4, 9-8-3 NCHA), the sixth seed, will meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. If Lake Forest evens the series, the two teams will play a mini-game.

The Saints goalie Teraysa White made 38 saves while Lake Forest goalie Stacey Dierking stopped 31 of 32 shots.

St. Scholastica got on the board at 16:51 of the third period on a goal from Kaitlin Johnston. The Saints added an empty net goal at 19:28 from Nina Waidacher.

The Foresters best chance to get on the board came midway through the third period when Michelle Greenway's initial shot was saved by White. The rebound came out to Torey Crown who one-timed it on goal but White snagged the shot with her glove.
