Foresters to Host St. Scholastica in NCHA Quarterfinals this Weekend

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team finished the regular season with a 15-5-4 record and placed third in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings with a league mark of 12-4-4. The Foresters will host College of St. Scholastica (12-9-4, 9-8-3 NCHA) in the O'Brien Cup Quarterfinals on Friday and Saturday.

The opener of the two-game series will begin at 7:00 Friday night in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse and the teams will face off again Saturday afternoon at 2:00. If the series is tied after game two, a 20-minute mini-game will be played shortly after the completion of Saturday's contest to decide which team advances to the O'Brien Cup Tournament March 1-2. Live video webcasts of both contests will be available (click here).

Tickets will be available at the door and are $8 for adults and $4 for students. There will be no pass list or advance sales.

Lake Forest, which was ranked 10th in the nation by D3hockey.com on Monday, will host the Saints in the quarterfinals for the second straight season. The Foresters swept that series 4-2 and 3-1. The teams squared off at St. Scholastica January 25-26 and the visitors prevailed 4-1 and 3-2, giving them a 6-0-2 advantage in the all-time series.

The home teams in the other three quarterfinal series are also listed among the top 10 in the nation by D3hockey.com. League champion and #7 University of Wisconsin-River Falls (18-5-2, 15-3-2 NCHA) will host University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (9-12-4, 8-9-3 NCHA). The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (11-11-3, 9-8-3 NCHA) will travel to second-place Adrian College (19-5-1, 14-5-1 NCHA), which is ranked eighth. Fourth-place University of Wisconsin-Superior (16-7-2, 13-6-1), ranked #9, will host St. Norbert College (14-9-2, 12-7-1 NCHA). The teams will all play at 7:00 Friday night and Saturday afternoon at 2:00.

The highest-remaining seed among the quarterfinal winners will host the other three teams in a single-elimination tournament March 1-2. The event was hosted by River Falls last year, Superior in 2011, and Lake Forest in 2010.
