Victory at Eau Claire is Foresters' Fourth in a Row and Coach Zaban's 100th

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team prevailed 7-1 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Friday night to extend its winning steak to four games. Forester freshmen Michelle Greeneway and Melissa Paluch had four points apiece in the 100th career victory for head coach Carisa Zaban.

Greeneway started the scoring barrage 10 minutes and 11 seconds into the contest with Paluch being credited with an assist. Greeneway then assisted Paluch on a shorthanded goal at 17:32. Eau Claire got on the scoreboard during the same power play and the score was 2-1 in favor of the Foresters after one period.

Paluch scored again at the 17:10 mark of the second period with Greeneway and senior Jenn Caldwell each picking up an assist.

The Foresters rattled off four goals in the final period, beginning with freshman Logan Taylor's fifth and sixth scores of the season. Her first score of the night was assisted by sophomore Morgan Pope at 2:20 and the second by Greeneway while on the power play at 11:08. Paluch completed her first career hat trick just 36 seconds later off passes from sophomores Emily Wybo and Torey Crown. Junior Maeve Connelly closed out the scoring at 15:06. Sophomores Laura Reckdenwald and Marissa Weber assisted on Connelly's second score this season.

Paluch's three-goal performance was the first by a Forester since Lynn Switaj accomplished the feat in November of 2010. Greeneway became the first player on the team to record as many as three assists in a contest since Melissa Kravich registered four in February of 2011. Paluch and Greeneway are tied with a team-high eight goals on the year and Paluch leads Greeneway by one with nine assists.

The Foresters outshot the Blugolds 10-6 in the first period and 14-8 in the third. Both teams put 13 shots on goal in the second, when Lake Forest junior goaltender Stacey Dierking recorded half of her 26 saves on the night. She is now 3-0-0 with a .965 save percentage and 0.69 goals against average this season.

Zaban is now 100-70-29 in her career.

The same two teams will face off again tomorrow night at 7:00.
