1-1 Decision at Stevens Point is Foresters Third Consecutive Tie

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday. Forester sophomore goaltender Jenna Brankin stopped 27 of 28 shots on goal in the team's third straight tie.

Brankin and the Foresters are now 1-1-3 overall and 0-0-3 in Northen Collegiate Hockey Association play this season. Eight of her 28 saves were recorded in the five-minute overtime period and she raised her save percentage to .923 on the year.

Stevens Point took the early lead at the 7:15 mark of the opening period and the Foresters trailed 1-0 despite outshooting the Pointers 11-5 in the game's first 20 minutes.

Lake Forest also had an 11-10 edge in shots on goal in the second period but neither team was able to score in the frame.

The Foresters put 11 more shots on goal to the Pionters' five in the third period and finally tied the score on a power play goal by freshman Melissa Paluch with 6:10 remaining in regulation. The second score of the season for Paluch was assisted by sophomore Emily Wybo and junior Sarah Gilbride.

After taking next weekend off, Lake Forest will host Marian University the first two days of December. Friday night's game will begin at 7:00 and the teams will face off again at 2:00 the following afternoon.
