Foresters Skate to 2-2 Tie at Concordia Wisconsin

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team tied host Concordia University Wisconsin 2-2 Tuesday night in the Foresters' 2012-13 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener. Freshman Logan Taylor started the scoring with her third goal in as many games.

Taylor converted a power play opportunity eight minutes into the contest and was assisted by sophomores Emily Wybo and Torey Crown. The Falcons tied the game on a power play goal of their own at 13:29 and the score was still 1-1 at the end of the first period.

Lake Forest regained the lead on the first goal of the season by junior Maeve Connelly. She was assisted by sophomore Erin Shamley at 11:32 in the second period.

The visitors held a 2-1 lead until six minutes into the third period when Concordia Wisconsin scored its second power play goal in four opportunities on the night. Lake Forest was 1-for-4 on the power play.

Forester sophomore goaltender Jenna Brankin stopped 37 of 39 shots on goal, raising her save percentage on the young season to .908.

Lake Forest is now 1-1-1 overall. The Falcons are 0-5-2 overall and 0-3-2 in conference games.

The Foresters will continue NCHA play this weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and again at 2:30 the following afternoon.
