Lake Forest Opens Season with 3-0 Win over St. Thomas

The Lake Forest women's hockey team opened the 2012-13 season with a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas on Saturday night at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Foresters (1-0) got on the board just 2:54 into the game as freshman Logan Taylor scored her first collegiate goal. Laura Reckdenwald assisted on the goal.

Lake Forest extended its lead to 2-0 lead at 3:41 of the second period when freshman Melissa Paluch wristed a shot from the faceoff cicle that went top shelf.

Lake Forest closed out the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:38 of the third period.

Brankin finished the game with 21 saves while her counterpart Alise Riedel stopped 28 of 30 shots.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
