The Lake Forest College women's hockey team tied visiting College of St. Scholastica 2-2 Saturday night. Senior Jessica Dare assisted one Forester goal and scored the other in the game's first few minutes.
The home team jumped out to the early lead on freshman Morgan Pope's sixth score of the season. Dare assisted on the goal just two minutes and 33 seconds into the contest. Dare then lit the lamp for the seventh time this year just 34 seconds later. Senior forward Mira Trebilcock assisted on Dare's 34th career goal, tying her with 2010 graduate Lynn Switaj for fifth place in program history.
St. Scholastica pulled to within a goal on a power play score at 8:48 in the first period and tied the game at 11:38.
The Saints outshot the Foresters 12-9 in each of the first two periods and 11-7 in the third. Lake Forest put five shots on goal in overtime while Forester sophomore goaltender Stacey Dierking was forced to make just two of her 35 saves on the night in the five-minute extra period. Dierking has 110 saves in 117 chances in her last three outings, raising her save percentage on the season to .914.
Forester senior Molly Wallner was presented with the program's Ry McCarthy Award during the first intermission.
Lake Forest is now 11-6-2 overall this season and the Saints are 11-5-4. The Foresters and Saints remain in third and fourth place, respectively, in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings. Lake Forest is 10-4-1 and St. Scholastica 9-4-2 in the league.
