Rough Final Period Dooms Foresters at St. Norbert

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team fell 3-1 at St. Norbert College Friday night. Forester junior Jenn Caldwell scored the only goal of the game for the visitors.

Caldwell's fourth goal of the 2011-12 season gave the Foresters the lead at the 7:55 mark of the opening period. She was assisted by fellow junior Angie Chronis.

Lake Forest was out-shot 18-8 in the opening period but had an 18-6 advantage in that category in a scoreless second stanza.

St. Norbert put 19 shots on goal to the Foresters' 10 in the final 20 minutes. The home team tied the game on a power play score at 5:06 in the third, took the lead at 7:34, and tacked on an insurance goal at 17:04.

Sophomore goaltender Stacey Dierking's 40 saves on the night were the most by a Forester goaltender this season and just one shy of her career-high.

Lake Forest fell to 10-6-1 overall and 9-4-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Green Knights raised their overall record to 7-10-0 and NCHA mark to 5-7-0.

The Foresters will try to salvage a split in the weekend series tomorrow afternoon at 2:00.
