The Lake Forest College women's hockey team dropped a 5-3 decision to Concordia College-Moorhead Friday night. The game was played at the Dakotah! Sports Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
The Cobbers, who were listed among the others receiving votes in this week's USCHO top 10 poll, started the scoring at the 10:50 mark of the second period.
Lake Forest responded just 90 seconds later when senior Kim Herring lit the lamp for the team-high eighth time this season. She was assisted by junior Angie Chronis.
The Foresters took the lead at 15:23, just nine seconds into a power play opportunity. It was senior Jessica Dare's fourth goal of the year and she was assisted by freshman Morgan Pope and sophomore Stephanie Slinde.
After Concordia tied the score on a 5-on-3 goal with 41 seconds remaining in the period, sophomore Maeve Connelly put Lake Forest back on top on a shorthanded goal with just 24 ticks on the clock. The unassisted score was Connelly's fourth of the season. It was also her first career shorthanded goal and the third this year for the Foresters.
The Cobbers tied the score again two minutes into the third period and took the lead on a power play goal at 4:10. They added an insurance score at 7:31 and held Lake Forest scoreless the rest of the way.
Concordia out-shot the Foresters 29-16 in the contest.
Lake Forest fell to 6-3-1 this season while the Cobbers raised their record to 3-1-1.
