Lake Forest Wins 4-0 at Marian University

The Forester women's hockey team prevailed 4-0 Friday night at Marian University. Lake Forest freshmen Emily Wybo netted her first career goal and assisted on another score in the victory.

Wybo's power play goal was assisted by Kim Herring and gave the Foresters a 2-0 lead at the 16:36 mark of the first period. The visitors's first goal came off the stick of senior Molly Wallner just 80 seconds into the contest. Freshman Laura Reckdenwald assisted on Wallner's first goal of 2011-12 and fourth game-winner in six career scores.

Herring extended the Lake Forest lead to three goals at the 14:45 mark of the second period. Her team-high sixth goal of the year was assisted by freshman Torey Crown. Herring now has 91 career points, six shy of Courtney DeHoey's program record set in 2008.

Wybo and senior Jessica Dare assisted sophomore Stephanie Slinde on the final goal of the game 11 minutes and nine seconds into the third period. It was Slinde's first goal of the season.

Lake Forest out-shot the Sabres 40-18 in the game.

Forester freshman Jenna Brankin recorded her second shutout in three starts this season. She is now 2-1-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and .958 save percentage.

Lake Forest is now 3-2-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Marian fell to 0-5-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the league. The same two teams will face off in Lake Forest at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon.
