Foresters Finish Off Three-Win Week with 6-1 Victory over Marian

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team defeated visiting Marian University 6-1 on Saturday to complete a weekend home-and-home sweep of the Sabres. Freshman Morgan Pope's first career goal started the scoring and classmate Stephanie Quintin's finished it.

The Foresters had defeated Marian 4-0 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Friday night after posting a 4-3 victory at Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday. Lake Forest is now 4-2-1 overall this season and 3-2-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Sbares fell to 0-6-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the league.

Pope's score came on the power play at the 8:29 mark of the first period and was assisted by sophomore Sarah Gilbride and senior Jessica Dare. Dare and Pope then set up sophomore Stephanie Slinde at 13:22 to make the score 2-0. Freshman Laura Reckdenwald netted her second score of the year at 14:48 with senior Kim Herring and freshman Torey Crown each credited with an assist. Her team-high seventh score of the season was assisted by freshman Emily Wybo and junior Angie Chronis and pulled her to within four of Courtney DeHoey's program record 97 career points. Quintin closed out the scoring at 9:29 with junior Jenn Caldwell picking up the assist.
