Strong Second Round for Foresters at UW-Whitewater Spring Fling

The Lake Forest College women's golf team finished fifth out of 14 schools at the UW-Whitewater Spring Fling on Friday and Saturday.

After posting a scored of 353 in Friday's opening round, the Foresters were 18 stroke better with a 335 in round two, which was split evenly between Friday and Saturday because of the weather. The tournament was played on the 5,843-yard, par-72 Riverside Golf Course in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Freshman Sydney Foulon led Lake Forest with an 85 in round one and she was one shot better in round two. Foulon finished tied-for-17th out of the 79 players who completed both rounds.

The Foresters' best round of the tournament came from fellow freshman Gabrielle Krebs, who carded a 78 in round two and tied for 12th place overall with a 36-hole score of 167. She was just two shots over par in nine holes on Saturday.

Freshman Alijah Campbell tied for 26th place with a two-round score of 173 while classmate Niki Datangel was 35th at 179.

Whitewater won the tournament with a final score of 620, 10 stroke better than runner-up Aurora University. Lake Forest's 335 in round two was the ninth-best score in team history and moved the team past Marian University and UW-Oshkosh into fifth place.

The Foresters will close out the 2022-23 season at Carthage College's Firebird Spring Invitational next Sunday.
