Foresters Victorious at 11-Team Marian Invite

The Lake Forest College women's golf team won its first invitational of the season over the weekend, finishing first out of 11 teams at the Marian Invite.

The Foresters had five of the top 10 finishers, led by freshman Sydney Foulon, the event's runner-up with a 36-hole score of 174. Foulon carded seven pars while shooting an 86 on Friday and recorded a birdie and five pars during Saturday's round of 88. She finished just three shots behind the individual winner.

Fellow freshmen Niki Datangel and Gabrielle Krebs tied for fourth place at 179. Krebs had a birdie in each round while Datangel completed the weekend with a birdie and 11 pars.

Ashlyn Bhatia and Alijah Campbell, two more Lake Forest freshmen, finished sixth with a 180 and tied-for-eighth at 183, respectively. 

The five Forester freshmen posted a two-day score of 711, which was 39 strokes better than second-place teams St. Norbert College and Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Lake Forest also had a second team, which was led by sophomore Lucy Rayburn's 16th-place finish and score of 187. Classmate Emma Ackland joined her in the top half of the 58-player field, placing 26th at 196. The team score posted by Rayburn, Ackland, freshman Chelsea Sinclair, and junior Christina Hartley was 805 and good for sixth place.

The Foresters will be back in action on Monday at the Judson Fall Invitational The 18-hole event will be held at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
