Foresters Finish Eighth at the Firebird Spring Invitational

With two of the women's golf team's top four rounds of the year, Lake Forest finished eighth at Carthage College's Firebird Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

The tournament was held on the 5,648-yard, par-72 course at Bristol Oaks Country Club in Bristol, Wisconsin.

Sophomore Makayla Sanchez turned in the Foresters' top score in each round with back-to-back 83s on the weekend. She recorded 10 pars on Saturday and eight on Sunday and tied for third place in the 77-player field.

After carding an 87 in her Lake Forest debut last Sunday, freshman Emily Tau had an 85 in round one and an 86 in round two this weekend. Her two-day score of 171 was tied-for-11th overall. 

Freshman Emma Ackland was next on the team and tied-for-37th overall with matching rounds of 97 at the event.

Aurora University was the runaway winner as a team, finishing 37 strokes ahead of runner-up University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a final score of 666. The Foresters were eighth in the 14-team field at 741. The 367 on Saturday was their second-lowest round of the year and Sunday's 374 ranks fourth.

Lake Forest will compete in the Judson Invite on Tuesday. The one-day event will be held at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
