Foresters Check Out SLIAC Championship Course at IC Preview

The Lake Forest College women's golf team placed fourth at the IC Preview on Sunday and Monday. The tournament was played at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois, which is also the site of this fall's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

After struggling to a team score of 402 in Sunday's opening round, on the 5,824-yard par-72 course, the Foresters improved by 18 strokes on Monday.

Leading the way for Lake Forest on both days was sophomore Makayla Sanchez, who tied for 15th place out of 34 players with a 36-hole score of 183. Freshman Lucy Rayburn was next on the team and tied-for-20th overall at 193. Sanchez and Rayburn turned in the team's only birdies of the weekend, Rayburn on Sunday on the par-5 fourth hole and Sanchez on Monday on the par-3 11th.

Illinois College won the event with a two-day score of 699.

Lake Forest will be in action next on Friday and Saturday at the Marian Invite at Whispering Springs Golf Club in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
