Lake Forest Edged Out by Aurora at Benedictine Tri-Match

The Forester women's golf team finished just two strokes off Aurora University in Sunday's three-team tournament, which was hosted by Benedictine University at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Illinois.

Lake Forest had the top two individual players at the event in freshman Chloe Morrissey and senior Amanda Lee. They cared rounds of 78 and 79, respectively, on the 5,816-yard par-71 course. It was the second individual title in as many days for Morrissey, who also finished first at the 39-player Marian Invite on Saturday. Her round on Sunday included the only birdie in the field on the 348-yard par-4 fifth hole and 10 pars. Lee registered the only birdie on the 459-yard par-5 eighth hole and matched Morrissey with 10 pars.

Forester freshman Makayla Sanchez turned in her best round of the young season and her 86 was good for fifth place out of the dozen golfers at the event. She finished both the front and back nines in 43 strokes and only Morrissey and Lee had more than her seven pars.

Senior Makenzie Kamm rounded out Lake Forest's scoring with a 117.

The Foresters' team score of 360 matched their best round of the year. Aurora was first at 358 and Benedictine third at 440.

Lake Forest will play their third event in four days at Tuesday's Judson Invite.
