Lake Forest Places Seventh at Carthage Spring Invitational

The Forester women's golf team finished seventh at the Carthage Spring Invitational, posting a score of 367 in Friday's opening round and a 381 on Saturday. The 36-hole event was played at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Lakewood, Illinois.

Lake Forest's top finisher at the event was freshman Chloe Morrissey, who carded an 83 in the first round and an 87 in the second. She birdied the 464-yard par-5 fifth hole both days and made it two in a row on Saturday with a three on the 255-yard par-4 sixth. Morrissey tied for ninth place in the 61-player field at 170.

The Foresters' top round of the weekend came from senior Amanda Lee with an 82 on Friday. A 90 on Saturday gave her a final score of 172, which tied her for 15th place. Just six golfers were better on the course's par-4s than Lee, who birdied two of them on Friday and added another three on 18 on Saturday.

Only one player in the tournament had more birdies than Morrissey and Lee.

Unlike most of the field, Forester freshman Makayla Sanchez had a lower score on Saturday (91) than Sunday (95). She finished tied-for-36th.

Lake Forest's other scorer both days was junior Grace Black, who was tied-for-52nd at 220.

The Foresters will travel to Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, for next Saturday's Marian Spring Invite.
