Foresters Finish First at WLC Invitational

Junior Amanda Lee was the individual champion and Lake Forest finished first as a team at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational on Sunday.

Lee's score of 79 on the 5,897-yard, par-71 New Berlin Hills Golf Course in New Berlin, Wisconsin, was eight shots better than Forester senior Cece Cruz, the event's runner-up. They were followed by three more Lake Forest players as freshman Elizabeth Santos was third with an 88 while senior Yuka Kawata and freshman Sydney Reeder tied for fourth at 91. Lee, Cruz, and Santos accounted for three of the five birdies in the 23-player field.

The Foresters' team score of 345 was 39 strokes fewer than second-place Lakeland University. Wisconsin Lutheran placed third with a score of 416 and Johnson and Wales University was fourth at 553.

The victory was Lake Forest's third in the last four tournaments.

The next event on the Foresters' schedule is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which will be played at The Links in Jacksonville, Illinois, on October 7 and 8.
