Foresters Finish in the Middle of the Pack at Battle on the Border

Senior Cece Cruz posted Lake Forest's best round of the weekend with an 84 on Friday and tied for 31st overall at Carthage College's Battle on the Border.

Cruz's performance on Friday included seven pars and a birdie. She added an 86 on Saturday for a 36-hole score of 170. Freshman Sydney Reeder matched Cruz's total with back-to-back rounds of 85 and their two-day scores rank tied-for-ninth in program history. Junior Amanda Lee and freshman Elizabeth Santos tied for 41st at 176 and freshman Francesca Carney finished in a tie for 52nd place with a 184. Ninety players at the tournament completed all 36 holes.

The Foresters finished seventh in the 13-team event and their 692 is the second-lowest two-day scored in program history. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater won the event with a mark of 624, nine strokes better than runner-up Carthage.

The tournament was played at Bristol Oaks Country Club in Bristol, Wisconsin.

Lake Forest's next event will be a dual match with visiting Benedictine University next Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. It will be held at nearby Lake Bluff Golf Club.
