Final Round Canceled, Foresters Finish Second at MWC Championships

Due to weather and course conditions, Sunday's third and final round of the 2018 Midwest Conference Championship Tournament was canceled and the results through the first two rounds were considered final.

With a score of 353 on Friday and 350 on Saturday, Lake Forest is the league's runner-up. It is the highest finish at the conference tournament in program history with the Foresters having placed third each of the last two years, fourth in 2015, and fifth in 2014, their first season as a varsity sport. This weekend's 36-hole score of 703 ranks third in team history.

Grinnell won the team competition by 61 strokes while Monmouth College was third at 717, Illinois College fourth at 725, and St. Norbert College fifth at 726.

The leagues top 10 individual finishers are named All-MWC and Forester sophomores Amanda Lee and Faith Jung made that list for the second straight season. Lee's 75 on Saturday is the second-lowest round in program history and she placed fourth in the 31-player field with a two-day score of 160, which ranks third in team annals. With an 84 on Friday and an 83 on Saturday, Jung was sixth overall and her 167 is now tied-for-sixth in program history.

Lake Forest junior Cece Cruz tied for 16th place with a two-day score of 183, senior Anhayte Guajardo was tied-for-24th at 193, and freshman Sophia Levinson finished 30th at 202.

The tournament was played on the 5,802-yard, par-73 course at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois.

It was the final event of the fall semester for the Foresters, whose spring schedule has not yet been released.
