Lake Forest Places Second at Aldeen Preview

Junior Cece Cruz was the team's top player on Sunday as the Foresters were the runners-up at the Aldeen Preview.

Cruz played the four par-3 holes in 2-under, knocking down birdie putts on the 101-yard fifth and 118-yard eighth. Her round of 84 was good for fourth place in the 34-player field, just one shot off the lead.

Sophomores Faith Jung and Amanda Lee were next on the team and tied-for-10th overall with matching scores of 90. Jung's round included five pars, including three in a row on the back nine. Lee started the day with a birdie on the 441-yard, par-5 first and added three pars in the first nine holes and three more coming in.

Freshman Sophia Levinson and junior Yuka Kawata were in the middle of the pack, finishing 17th in 94 shots and 18th in 95, respectively. Senior Anhayte Guajardo tied for 26th with a round of 100.

Lake Forest's team score of 359 was 18 strokes behind Monmouth College and four ahead of third-place Illinois College. St. Norbert College (273) and Judson University (402) were fourth and fifth.

The Foresters will return to Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois, next weekend for the 2018 Midwest Conference Championships. Friday's opening round will start at 11:00 a.m. and players will begin teeing off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
