Foresters Finish 10th at Carthage Shootout on the Border

Sophomore Faith Jung was Lake Forest's top player on Friday and Saturday as the Forester women's golf team tied for 10th place at the Carthage College Shootout on the Border.

Jung's 87 in round one was one shot better than her score on Saturday and, at 175 for the weekend, she tied for 33rd place out of 94 players. She was tied-for-52nd with a 182 at the same event a year ago.

Junior Cece Cruz was next on the team and tied-for-43rd overall after posting an 89 on Friday and a 93 on Saturday.Junior Yuka Kawata and Anhayte Guajardo each finished round one in 93 strokes. Kawate had a 92 and Guajardo a 96 on Saturday. Freshman Sophia Levinson went 102-101 in her collegiate debut.

Carthage won the tournament with a 36-hole score of 649, three shots better than runner-up St. Mary's College. The Foresters' 731 was tied with Judson University for 10th place in the 17-team field.

The Foresters will play in their only home event of the fall on Friday when they host a dual match with Benedictine University. The first group is scheduled to tee off at 2:00 p.m.
