Sophomore Kaitlyn Gray finished seventh out of 45 golfers and the Lake Forest College women's golf team came out on top of a tiebreaker to win the Marian University Invite over the weekend.

After needing 91 shots to complete her opening round on Saturday, Gray fired an 85 on Sunday. She finished the weekend with 13 pars and a birdie on the 499-yard, par-5 second hole in round one.

Freshman Amanda Lee and sophomore Cece Cruz were next on the team and in a tie for eighth place overall with a two-day total of 178. Cruz birdied the 103-yard, par-3 third hole during her round of 88 on Sunday. Lee's 84 on Sunday was the Foresters' best round at the event and included eight pars and a birdie on the 131-yard, par-3 13th hole. She also accounted for the tiebreaker used to decide the team champion. Her final round score was the same as the top golfer from Concordia University Wisconsin, but her 43 on the back nine was two shots better to give Lake Forest the victory.

Forester junior Anhayte Guajardo finished 11th at the event with a twoday score of 181 and freshman Emily Argersinger 12th at 183.

It was the third consecutive victory for the Foresters, who defeated Benedictine University in a dual match on September 8 and placed first in Elmhurst College's Bluejay Invitational on Tuesday.

Lake Forest will compete in the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic next weekend. The event will be held at Blackhawk Country Club in Madison, Wisconsin. Friday's opening round will begin at noon and play will start again at 9:00 Saturday morning.
