Foresters Post Program Record Round in Victory over Marian and Edgewood

Sophomore Kalay Kotasek carded a career-best 81 to lead the Lake Forest College women's golf team to a victory over visiting Marian University and Edgewood College on Saturday.

Kotasek's round on the 5,828-yard, par-71 Highland Park Country Club course included eight pars and she was no worse than bogey on any hole. She went out in 40 and played the back nine in 41.

Kotasek finished first in the field, five strokes ahead of fellow sophomore Anhayte Guajardo, whose 86 was a season-best round. Guajardo birdied the par-4, 312-yard sixth hole and added six pars on her round.

Lake Forest also had the next two finishers, senior Allie Girard and freshman Cece Cruz. Girard needed just three shots on a pair of par-4s and also recorded three pars while posting an 87. Cruz had five pars in her season-best round of 88.

After needing 50 shots on the front nine, freshman Yuka Kawata had a pair of pars and no worse than bogey on the back. She finished sixth in the field with a score of 92.

The Foresters' score of 342 was a team recod by eight strokes and 46 shots better than runner-up Marian. Edgewood was third with a round of 423.

Lake Forest will be back in action with Edgewood in another triangular on Sunday. Concordia University Wisconsin is the third team and the event will be held at Bristol Oaks Country Club in Bristol, Wisconsin.
