Foresters Finish Second at Bluejay Classic

Senior Allie Girard was tied for third place in the individual standings to lead the Lake Forest College women's golf team to a second place at Elmhurst College's Bluejay Classic on Tuesday.

Girard completed the 5,951-yard, par-72 course in 87 shots, going out in 45 and posting a 42 on the back nine. She carded seven pars during the round and birdied the par-4, 341-yard 15th hole.

Sophomores Anhayte Guajardo and Kalay Kotasek were next on the team at 90 and 93, respectively. Guajardo was one of just two players in the field with two birdies, posting them on the 323-yard, par-4 12th and 479-yard, par-5 16th. Kotasek had five pars on the day.

Freshman Cece Cruz rounded out the Foresters' top four with a 98. She was two shots better on the back nine than the front.

Aurora University won the event with a score of 357, 11 shots ahead of Lake Forest. Elmhurst finished third and Benedictine University fourth.

The Foresters will play in their first event on their new home course on Saturday when they host Marian University and Edgewood College at nearby Highland Park Country Club. The teams will tee off at 10:00 a.m.
