Foresters Defeat Lakeland in First Home Event of the Season

The Lake Forest College women's golf team was 31 strokes better than visiting Lakeland College at Foss Park Golf Course in nearby North Chicago on Thursday. Freshman Kalay Kotasek and senior Alex Dunn tied for the best score of the event with matching rounds of 87.

Playing in the same threesome, Kotasek and Dunn each carded a 44 on the front nine and a 43 on the back. Dunn birdied the par-4 eighth hole as well as the par-5 10th and 13th. Kotasek was more consistent, posting a birdie on the par-5 14th and avoiding anything worse than bogey on any of the final nine holes.

Freshman Anhayte Guajardo was next on the team and fourth overall with a 90, thanks in part to a birdie on 10 and a team-high seven pars. Sophomore Aly Skoczek, who played in the same threesome as Guajardo, tied for sixth place overall with a round of 97. Highlighting her round was a chip-in for par on the final hole.

The Foresters' 361 was the best score they've turned in on their home course, one shot better than last September's 362 in a dual match with Concordia University Wisconsin.

The next event on Lake Forest's schedule is another dual match at home against Wisconsin Lutheran College on Sunday.
