Lake Forest Finishes Fifth in First MWC Championship Tournament

The Forester women's golf team completed its first fall season with a fifth-place finish in the 2014 Midwest Conference Championship Tournament on Sunday. Lake Forest sophomore Allie Girard placed fifth as an individual in the three-day event.

Girard needed 97 shots to complete the par-73 course on Sunday after posting an 83, the best round of the tournament, on Friday and a 93 on Saturday. She finished seven shots out of first place.

Junior Alex Dunn was next on the Foresters with a round of 101 on Sunday and a three-day total of 299, good for 21st place overall. Freshman Frankie Corrado finished 26th with a score of 305 and classmate Aly Skoczek was 31st in 345 strokes. Senior Brooke Perkins' score of 111 on Sunday was one of the team's top four scores on the day and counted toward the team's total. She finished 32nd overall with a three-day total of 349 and junior Michelle Ricolcol was 33rd with a score of 359.

Grinnell College defended its league title with a three-day score of 1104, 16 shots ahead of runner-up Monmouth College. Illinois College placed third in 1158 and Carroll University fourth in 1169. Lake Forest's 1209 was nine strokes ahead of St. Norbert College. Knox College and Ripon College did not have the four players required for team scoring.

While the conference tournament closes out the fall season for the Foresters, they will compete again in the spring. That schedule will be released at a later date.
