Foresters Fall to First-Place Knox at Home

The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 68-59 by visiting Knox College on Saturday.

Forester senior forward Annie Lally led all players in the game with 19 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. It was the first double-double of her collegiate career.

With 13 points, senior guard Katie Neher was the only other Forester to score in double figures. She surpassed the 800-point mark for her career.

Junior guard Maurissa Edwards led the home team with five assists and freshman guard Sophie Cook with four steals.

The Foresters shot just 34.9 percent from the field while Knox was at 48.2 percent. Lake Forest out-rebounded the visitors 41-37 and did not allow them to make a three-pointer in the game.

The Prairie Fire led 21-17 at the end of the first quarter and by six early in the second. The Foresters came back and briefly took the lead for the final time in the game on a basket by Lally with 6:29 to play in the half. Knox went on a 10-1 run late in the second quarter and was ahead 32-29 at halftime. The margin grew to a dozen points by the end of the third quarter and reached a game-high 18 in the fourth.

Lake Forest fell to 4-12 overall and 1-8 in Midwest Conference play while Knox improved to 13-4 overall and remained perfect in league play at 8-0.

The Foresters will host Monmouth College next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
