The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 75-68 at Cornell College on Saturday.

The Foresters led 37-34 at halftime and 53-51 after three quarters of play. A free throw by senior forward Annie Lally put the visitors on top 58-57 with 5:33 to play but was followed by an 12-1 run for the Rams.

Trailing by 10 with a minute-and-a-half left, Lake Forest rallied with back-to-back layups by junior guard Maurissa Edwards and Lally and a three-pointer by senior guard Katie Neher with 32.5 seconds on the clock trimmed the margin to three. The Foresters would not score again, however, and Cornell connected four times from the foul line in the final 30 seconds to secure the victory.

Lally led all players in the contest with a season-high 18 points while Neher was next on the squad with 16, followed by Edwards with 14 and freshman guard Jamie Springstead with 12. Neher also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for her second double-double in the last three games while Edwards led the visitors with six assists and five steals.

Lake Forest shot 42.1 percent from the field and knocked down a season-high nine three-pointers including four by Springstead. Cornell was at 41.3 percent from the floor but connected 15 times from beyond the arc. The home team also had a 39-33 advantage on the boards.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 3-8 and Midwest Conference mark to 0-5. The Rams are now 6-6 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the league.

Lake Forest will travel to Fontbonne University for a non-conference game Monday at 5:00 p.m.
