The Forester women's basketball team dropped a 70-62 decision to Carthage College at home Tuesday evening.

Senior guard Katie Neher led Lake Forest in scoring for the fourth time in as many games this season, finishing with 15 points. She also tied for team-high honors with six rebounds and added three steals. Senior forward Annie Lally was next with 14, followed by junior guard Maurissa Edwards with 13. Lally shot 4-for-6 from the field and matched Neher with six rebounds.

The Foresters shot 34.5 percent from the field and limited the Firebirds to 36.8 percent. Carthage connected nine times from three-point range while the home team made just four. Lake Forest was also out-rebounded 42-31 and committed 18 turnovers while forcing 14.

Neher's only three-pointer of the evening capped off her 11-point performance in the opening quarter and Lake Forest led 21-20 after 10 minutes of play. Carthage began the second period with an 11-2 run but nine straight points by the Foresters briefly put them back on top. The Firebirds scored eight of the final 10 points of the half and led 39-34 at the break.

A pair of free throws by Lally to start the third quarter made it a three-point game but Lake Forest got no closer. The margin reached double figures late in the third and grew to as many as 14 in the fourth.

The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 1-3 while Carthage improved to 2-3.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play next Tuesday at Monmouth College with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
