The Forester women's basketball team dropped its penultimate game of the season Thursday night, as visiting Lawrence University prevailed 73-50.

Lake Forest got off to a slow start and trailed 16-6 at the end of the opening period. The margin grew to 18 (36-18) at halftime and to as many as 26 points early in the fourth quarter. Back-to-back-to-back three-pointers by Forester sophomore guard Maurissa Edwards made it a 13-point game with four-and-a-half minutes remaining but the home team got no closer.

Edwards scored 11 points in the final 10 minutes and a game-high 20 on the night. She also added four steals and a career-high nine rebounds.

The only other Forester to score in double figures was junior forward Annie Lally, who finished with a dozen points.

Lake Forest shot just 34.5 percent from the field while the Vikings were at 42.3 percent. The visitors also outscored the Foresters 18-15 on three-pointers and 23-7 from the foul line while maintaining a 40-32 advantage in rebounds and committing 12 turnovers while forcing 20.

Lake Forest is now 7-16 overall this season and 4-11 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence improved to 9-11 overall and 6-6 in the league.

The Foresters will close out the season at home against Grinnell College Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Seniors Ely DoBrodt, Maddie Glennon, Kara Schoenlein, and Delaney Sjong will be honored before their final collegiate game.
