Busy Foresters Fall to Knox

The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 71-48 by Knox College at home Thursday night in the Foresters' ninth game in the last 17 days.

The Prairie Fire took control with an 11-2 run to close out the opening period. Already ahead 20-12 entering the second quarter, the visitors outscored the Foresters 19-7 in the next 10 minutes to extend their lead to 20 points (39-19) at halftime. The margin reached 30 by the end of the third quarter before Lake Forest scored 21 points to Knox's 14 in the fourth.

Sophomore guard Maurissa Edwards led the home team with seven points while sophomore forward Brooke Johnson, freshman forward Peyton Noles, and sophomore guard Annie Pulaski added six apiece.

Forester senior guard Ely DoBrodt pulled down a team-high six rebounds but Knox had a 43-34 advantage on the board in the contest. The Prairie Fire shot 45.9 percent from the field while Lake Forest was at just 35 percent.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record to 6-13 and their Midwest Conference mark to 3-8. Knox evened its overall record at 9-9 with victories in seven of 10 league games.

Lake Forest will play its 10th game in 19 days on Saturday when the team hosts Beloit College for Alumni Day at 3:00 p.m.
