A few days after erasing a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit at Monmouth College, the Lake Forest College women's basketball team found itself in a similar position at Lawrence University on Saturday but were unable to stage another comeback, falling 75-60.

Lake Forest trailed by seven after the opening period and 15 at halftime. The Foresters trimmed the margin to eight points twice in the third quarter but it was back up to 13 at 61-48 with 10 minutes to play in the contest. The visitors scored the first basket of the fourth to make it an 11-point game but they got no closer.

Maurissa Edwards led Lake Forest with 21 points and was 9-for-9 at the line. The sophomore guard has averaged 21.2 points in the squad's last five games after scoring 7.7 per contest in the first 11.

Junior forward Annie Lally was the only other Forester in double figures with 10 points and she added a team-high nine rebounds.

Lake Forest shot just 30.5 percent from the field while the Vikings were at 40.7. The home team also knocked down seven three-pointers to the Foresters' four and out-rebounded them 45-36.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 5-11 and Midwest Conference mark to 3-7. Lawrence improved to 8-9 overall and 5-4 in the league.

Saturday's game was the first of five in an eight-day span for Lake Forest. The team will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
