Foresters Fall in Fourth Quarter at Knox

The Lake Forest College women's basketball team dropped a 63-48 decision at Knox College on Saturday.

The Foresters trailed by just one point going into the fourth quarter but were outscored 22-2 to start the period.

Sophomore guard Maurissa Edwards finished with 16 points and was the only Lake Forest player to score in double figures. Senior forward Delaney Sjong and junior guard Katie Neher tied for the team lead with eight rebounds apiece.

The Foresters limited the Prairie Fire to 31.1 percent shooting from the field but connected on just 24.6 percent of their own field goal attempts. Knox outscored the visitors 21-9 on three-pointers and 18-12 at the free throw line while out-rebounding them 44-40 and committing just nine turnovers to Lake Forest's 16.

The loss left Lake Forest with an overall record of 4-9 and Midwest Conference mark of 2-5. Knox improved to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in the league.

The Foresters will play their third game in four days on Sunday. Tip-off with visiting Cornell College is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
