Washington & Lee Too Much for Lake Forest

A day after defeating Alverno College 77-35, the Forester women's basketball team was defeated 86-45 on Monday by Washington & Lee University in the St. Pete's Classic at Eckerd College.

Sophomore guard Maurissa Edwards led Lake Forest with a dozen points while a pair of juniors, guard Katie Neher and forward Annie Lally, added 10 apiece. Neher added seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals to her stat line.

The Foresters shot just 26.6 percent from the field while Washington and Lee was at 48.3 percent. The Generals out-rebounded Lake Forest 45-35.

The game was tied at 27 late in the second quarter. Washington and Lee closed out the first half with a 9-2 run and racked up 50 points to the Foresters' 16 in the game's final 20 minutes.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record to 3-6 while Washington and Lee improved to 6-3.

The Foresters' next two games will be played at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Holiday Tournament, where they will take on the hosts on Wednesday, December 29, and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville the next day.
