Slow Start Stops Lake Forest at Ripon

The Forester women's basketball team was defeated 72-53 at Ripon College on Saturday.

Lake Forest was led in scoring by senior guard Kelsey Burton, who finished with a game-high 21 points. She also recorded four steals and moved into seventh place in program history with 157 in her career.

Sophomore guard Katie Neher was next on the Foresters with a dozen points and her seven steals matched the eighth-highest single-game total in team history.

Ripon scored the final seven points of each of the first two periods and led 33-17 at halftime. The Foresters closed to within 13 points on multiple occasions in the third quarter but got no closer. The margin was 19 points going into the fourth and both teams scored 16 in the final 10 minutes.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 1-4 while Ripon improved to 2-0.

The Foresters will host Carthage College Wednesday night at 7:00.
