Kelsey Burton Earns First Team All-MWC Honors

The Midwest Conference released the 2019-20 All-MWC Women's Basketball Teams on Tuesday and Lake Forest College's Kelsey Burton was a first team selection for the third time in as many seasons.

Burton led the Foresters and ranked eighth in the conference with 13.7 points per game. The versatile junior guard was also fourth in the league with 2.0 steals, 12th with 2.3 assists, and 15th with 6.2 rebounds per contest. She reached double figures in scoring in 18 of 25 games with five 20-point performances.

After just three seasons, Burton already ranks among the program's career leaders in several statistical categories. On February 5 she became the eighth player in team history to surpass 1,000 points and just the third to reach the milestone as a junior. She also ranks seventh in team annals with 551 career rebounds, tied-for-eighth with 150 steals, 10th with 207 assists, and third with 100 three-pointers made.

Burton is the Foresters' first three-time First Team All-MWC honoree since Katie McCants in 2003. Jill Morrison (1987-91) and Alison Grubbs (1997-01) are the only players in program history to earn that distinction four times. At least one player on the team has earned all-conference accolades each of the last 35 years.

The 2019-20 Foresters posted an overall record of 13-12 and finished fifth in the league standings at 10-8 in MWC play.
