Junior forward Delaney Sjong led Lake Forest with 10 points as the team fell 76-51 on Saturday at Monmouth College.

Sjong was also one of three Foresters sharing team-high honors with seven rebounds, joining junior forward Kelsey Burton and sophomore forward Kara Schoenlein. Lake Forest had a slight 39-38 edge in rebounds in the contest.

Monmouth shot 48.3 percent from the field while Lake Forest was successful just 32.8 percent of the time. The home team also outscored the Foresters 21-6 on three-pointers and 13-9 from the foul line.

A three-pointer for the Fighting Scots started the scoring and they led the rest of the way. A 10-0 Monmouth run late in the opening period increased the margin to double figures and the score at the end of the first quarter was 20-6. The Foresters finally trimmed the deficit to nine late in the second but a Scots basket to finish the half made the score 31-20 at the break. The home team's lead grew to 23 with less than a minute to play in the third quarter and to 27 late in the fourth.

Lake Forest fell to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in Midwest Conference play while Monmouth raised its overall record to 13-4 and league mark to 8-2.

The Foresters will host Illinois College Friday night at 7:30 and Knox College the following afternoon at 3:00.
