Thanks in part to a career-high six three-pointers and 23 points by senior guard Zaria Sydnor, Lake Forest posted a 73-64 victory at Knox College on Saturday.

Syndor was 6-for-8 from beyond the arc and 5-for-6 from the foul line in the contest. Her six three-pointers were the most by a Forester since Gina Ambrose was 6-for-10 from long range in a game nearly five years ago.

Junior guard Kelsey Burton was next on the team with 19 points, including 10 on 11 attempts from the free throw line. She led Lake Forest with nine rebounds and added three assist and three steals.

Both teams made 21 field goals with seven of those connections coming from three-point range. The Foresters advantage was at the foul line, where they outscored the home team 24-15. Knox had a slight edge in rebounds (39-36) and turnovers (20-21).

Knox made the game's first basket and led for the rest of the opening quarter, which ended with the score 18-16. The margin grew to 10 points in the second but the a 14-4 run that included three three-pointers by Sydnor tied the game at 30. After a jumper by the Prairie Fire, Sydnor struck again from beyond the arc to give the Foresters their first lead of the day at 33-32 with 1:25 on the clock. The teams went into the locker room at the half tied at 35.

The home team scored seven of the first nine points in the second half but Lake Forest was ahead 52-48 at the end of the third quarter. Knox started fast again and led 55-54 before Burton scored six points during an 8-0 Forester run. The visitors were 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the final two-and-a-half minutes to secure the road victory.

Lake Forest is now 6-7 overall and tied for fifth place in the Midwest Conference standings at 3-3 in the league. Knox fell to 8-5 overall and is also 3-3 in MWC play.

The Foresters' next gam will be played at Lawrence University Wednesday night at 7:30.
