Foresters Pull Away Late in Victory over Beloit

Freshman guard Kaley Sheehan scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter as Lake Forest posted a 74-64 victory over visiting Beloit College Wednesday night.

Sheehan left the game with a bloody nose 21 seconds into the final period and returned at the 7:56 mark with her team trailing 52-50. She knocked down a three-pointer to put the home team on top for good and connected on another to continue a 9-0 run. Lake Forest led by no less than three points the rest of the way and Sheehan was 7-for-10 from the foul line in the final three-and-a-half minutes to help secure the victory. 

Senior guard Zaria Sydnor, junior guard Kelsey Burton, and junior forward Delaney Sjong also reached double figures with 15, 14, and 10 points respectively. Sydnor shot 6-for-9 from the field, led the Foresters with six assists, tied for the team lead with six rebounds, and added four steals. Sophomore guard Meona Feather also filled up the stat sheet with four rebounds, five assists, five steals, and a blocked shot.

Lake Forest shot 42.6 percent from the field, held the Buccaneers to 39.1 percent, and outscored the visitors 21-5 from the foul line. The Foresters also forced 22 turnovers while committing 16 but were out-rebounded 42-32.

The victory raised the Foresters overall record to 5-7 and Midwest Conference mark to 2-3. Beloit fell to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Lake Forest will travel to Knox College on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
